The Celebrating: For Britainy!

This past Sunday Aug. 10th we celebrated my niece Britainy’s 29th birthday which was on the 7th! Each person on their birthday get’s to pick their meal and their “cake”.

Britainy requested “Grandpa burgers”, (which usually the grandkids do), Bob Evan’s mac and cheese, jalapeno & cheddar mets and a dirt cake!  The rest of the meal she didn’t care.

“Grandpa burgers” are sirloin patties from a local market near my parent’s, Lehr’s Prime Market” and grilled with another local’s, Montgomery Inn, bbq sauce on them!  Then topped with cheese, if you want, and whatever toppings you like! Nothing fancy, but very delicious!

I got a little sidetracked again, so I didn’t get a lot of pictures but here’s a few!

Usually after our meal we do presents then cake! Today Finley was wanting “cake” so bad we went ahead and did the candles, singing and eating cake first!

Of course Britainy needed help with the candles! Left to right: her sister Avery, her daughter Finley, Britainy and her cousin Janie!

The Celebrating!

Yesterday we celebrated my nephew Keegan’s birthday at my Mom & Dad’s! It was fantastic! Everyone was there except for Keegan’s girlfriend and her son!

Keegan requested “Grandpa burgers” (which usually the grandkids do), Bob Evan’s mac and cheese and a yellow cake with white icing! The rest of the meal he didn’t care.

I got busy sidetracked with my young nieces Janie & Avery, great niece Finley and little great nephew Easton, and didn’t get pics of everything I was planning to take, but… here’s a few!

Ok, this one is really blurry but I had to show Rudy seeing little Easton for the very first time!

The girls “helping” Keegan with his gifts! They usually help everyone on every occasion, well, except Christmas! They’re to busy with their own then :)! It’s Keegan’s little cousin Janie (love her expression, she’s on the left)and little sister Avery!

They’re still interested in the cards! BTW, everyone is required to read their cards out loud!

Once again the girls waiting for the candles to be lit so they can “help” blow them out! Now Keegan’s little niece Finley has joined him! I guess in a couple years Easton will have to “help” everyone too!

It was a wonderful day of celebrating! I got to see and spend time with my whole family! Thank you Dad & Mom for everything, Mitzi & Mark, Tony & Bridget, Britainy & John, Keegan, Cassidy, Janie, Avery, Finley and Easton! Of course I also got to spend the day with my immediate family, so thank you Rudy & Audrey too!

I am so greatly blessed! Thank you Lord!

Nice Gift

Our neighbor dropped off a ball canning jar full of homemade granola on our porch with a lovely note. “Thanks for being such a good neighbor. Enjoy (I hope) the granola. PS – It’s a girl! T… (her daughter just had a little girl last week).

Wasn’t that really nice! It’s yummy too!

Homemade Baked Cheese Snacks

I found a fantastic snack! It’s super quick & easy and you can “customize” it to your own favorite flavors! They’re great to snack on when you really have the need to “munch”! They will also satisfy actual hunger, which is always a good quality for a FOOD!

All you need for this wonderful snack is cheese! That’s right, cheese, any kind you like. Well, a cookie sheet, parchment paper (I was out of parchment paper so I used a silpat mat) and an oven is also needed.

Little piles of shredded cheese
Little piles of shredded cheese

This particular time we used shredded cheddar and a shredded pizza blend (mozzarella, Romano, & parmigiana)! Use whatever you have on hand or even add some favorite seasonings too! If you’re using a brick/block of cheese, slice it and break or cut or into squares (about and inch in size will do). Shredded, just pile in little heaps.

Put on the middle rack of a 350°F oven and bake for 5 – 7 minutes until brown. If not brown they will be chewy not crisp! Remove to cooling rack or plate. Once cool…
